Possible earnings

A beginner freelancer in Dakar commonly charges 25,000 to 75,000 FCFA (about $40 to $125) for a simple project (a set of social media posts, a campaign visual, one website page, a short translation). Three to five projects a month bring in an extra 100,000 to 300,000 FCFA (about $165 to $500), depending on the skill and the time available (rates charged in Dakar in September 2026; no income is guaranteed).

Indicative estimate, depending on your market, pace and work. No income is guaranteed.

  • Build a list of 10 qualified prospects using WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Google Maps and your own network

  • Run a 20-minute conversation with a prospect and turn it into a signed quote
  • Write a proper quote and invoice, and collect a deposit and the balance through Wave or Orange Money

  • A digital skill you already practice, even at beginner level (copywriting, social media, Canva, video editing, simple websites, data entry, translation)
  • A smartphone with WhatsApp and an internet connection; a computer helps for some skills
  • A Wave or Orange Money account in your own name
  • No legal status and no sales experience are required to get started

About this course

You have a digital skill: you write well, you run an Instagram page, you make visuals on Canva, you edit videos, you can build a simple website or keep files clean and organized. You want to sell it to small businesses alongside your studies or your job, but you do not know where to start or how much to charge. This course is a 30-day plan in four modules. Week 1: you choose a precise offer and calculate a rate that covers your time, the Wave and Orange Money fees and a reserve for taxes. Week 2: you build a list of 10 real prospects in Dakar, Thiès, Abidjan or the diaspora, and you send your first WhatsApp and LinkedIn messages. Week 3: you write a quote that gets signed, you collect a deposit and you deliver without the project spiraling. Week 4: you invoice, you ask for a written review and you measure what worked so you can do it again. Each lesson takes 12 to 15 minutes and ends with an exercise applied to your own offer. Each module ends with a PDF handout and a quiz. Two graded projects mark the way: your list of contacted prospects at the end of module 2, and your first-client file at the end of module 4. You leave with: your written offer, your rate card, your list of 10 prospects, your WhatsApp and LinkedIn outreach scripts, your quote and invoice templates, your review request message and your dashboard. The figures come from the Senegalese and Ivorian markets in 2026. No income is guaranteed: the result depends on your skill, the time you put in and the number of prospects you actually contact. The method, however, is the same for every digital skill.

Who it is for: Recent graduates, students and employees who want extra income by selling a digital skill (copywriting, community management, Canva design, video editing, simple websites, data entry and virtual assistance, translation) to small businesses in Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and the diaspora.

Questions about this course

Do I need to have clients or a portfolio already?

No. Module 1 has you produce, in two hours, a real sample of your work (for example 3 posts for a shop in your neighborhood) that serves as proof in your first messages. Your first clients then replace that sample with real references.

How much time do I need each week?

About 1 hour of lessons and 2 to 3 hours of action (prospecting, conversations, delivery) for 4 weeks. The plan is designed to fit around a job or studies, in the evenings and on weekends.

Do I need a legal status or a NINEA to invoice?

Not for your first projects: many small businesses pay a freelancer against a simple invoice and a Wave or Orange Money transfer. Module 4 explains at what volume, and for which clients (established companies, NGOs, public bodies), it becomes worthwhile to get a NINEA (Senegal's national tax ID) or, in Côte d'Ivoire, the entreprenant status (a simplified sole-trader status).

Which skills are covered?

Copywriting, community management, Canva design, video editing, simple websites, data entry and virtual assistance, translation. The method (offer, rate, prospecting, quote, payment, review) is the same for all of them; the worked examples cover each one.

How much can I earn, and how quickly?

A beginner freelancer commonly charges 25,000 to 75,000 FCFA (about $40 to $125) for a simple project in Dakar or Abidjan. The goal of the course is 1 to 3 first clients in 30 days. The result depends on how many prospects you actually contact: learners who send fewer than 20 messages rarely sign anyone within the month.

How do I pay?

Via Wave or Orange Money. After enrolling you receive a pro forma invoice by email with the number to pay. Send the proof on WhatsApp: your access is activated within 24 business hours.

How long do I keep access?

For life, updates included. Learn at your own pace and revisit lessons as often as you need.

How do I get the certificate?

Complete the lessons and pass each module quiz with at least 70%. The certificate is generated automatically, with a unique number and a public verification page.
