The verdict in three sentences
If you already sell regularly to several clients in Abidjan, your next problem is no longer finding work but keeping what you collect: legal status, invoices accepted on the first try, taxes set aside, unpaid invoices chased. The course Managing Your Business: Invoicing, Taxes and Cash Flow (Level 3 Advanced, 75,000 FCFA, about EUR 115, 12 h) covers these topics with the actual rules of Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal, with figures dated September 2026. It does not replace an accountant, but it makes you autonomous day to day and teaches you to prepare what an accountant will ask for.
The program: six modules, two projects
The course Managing Your Freelance Business: Invoicing, Taxes and Cash Flow, taught in French, has six modules, 23 written lessons, and a PDF handout and quiz per module.
| Module | What you learn | What you produce |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Choosing and registering your status in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire (free preview) | Informal, entreprenant, sole proprietorship, SUARL; entreprenant declaration at CEPICI | Status decision note and checklist of formalities |
| 2. Compliant quotes, invoices and credit notes | Mandatory mentions, gapless numbering, deposits, invoices in euros | Quote, invoice and credit note templates |
| 3. Freelancer taxes without bad surprises | Entreprenant tax, standardized invoice, 18 % VAT, withholding tax | Tax sheet and filing calendar |
| 4. Collecting fast and recovering unpaid invoices | Wave, Orange Money, transfers, reminders from D+1 to D+30, formal notice, OHADA payment order | Reminder procedure and formal notice template |
| 5. Managing cash flow | Business account, tax account, reserve account, Ramadan and back-to-school dips | 12-month cash flow plan with a fixed income |
| 6. Simple bookkeeping and dashboard | Income and expense ledger, reconciling Wave statements | Eight-indicator financial dashboard |
Two projects are to be submitted: your administrative and tax file at the end of module 3, then your 12-month freelance financial system at the end of module 6. Tools used: Google Sheets, Google Drive, Zoho Invoice, Wave, Orange Money, your banking app and Google Calendar.
Prerequisites: having taken level 2 on selling your services (offer, quotes and negotiation) or already selling regular work to several clients, collecting at least part of your income through Wave, Orange Money or bank transfer, and being able to enter rows and add totals in Google Sheets. No accounting knowledge is required.
Price compared: learn or delegate
In Abidjan the question often comes up: why not hand everything to an accountant? The two are not opposites, but the costs are very different.
| Option | Indicative 2026 cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Carry on without a method | 0 FCFA on the surface | Forgotten unpaid invoices, taxes discovered at year end, rejected invoices |
| External accountant | roughly 25,000 to 75,000 FCFA per month, i.e. 300,000 to 900,000 FCFA per year | Bookkeeping and filings, if you hand over clean documents |
| Kolonell Academy, Level 3 Advanced | 75,000 FCFA once (about EUR 115), lifetime access | Day-to-day autonomy, templates, calendar, cash flow plan |
| Freelance and Entrepreneurship track (5 levels) | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | From launch to growing an agency |
The course also tells you when to hire an accountant, how much it costs and what to hand over each month: part of the fee depends on the state of the documents you provide.
What it protects, in figures
This level does not promise extra income directly: it protects what you collect. The course page gives an order of magnitude observed in Dakar and Abidjan in 2026: on a business billing 500,000 FCFA a month, structured reminders commonly recover 50,000 to 150,000 FCFA of unpaid invoices per quarter (about EUR 76 to 229). The right status also opens the door to structured clients (companies, NGOs) whose assignments often exceed 500,000 FCFA. No income is guaranteed, and the course does not replace personalized tax advice.
Mini case study
Consider a hypothetical learner: Aya, 29, a freelance graphic designer in Cocody who bills about 500,000 FCFA a month to five clients. Two of them pay 45 days late, and an NGO asks for a compliant invoice and her legal status before signing.

Illustrative calculation: the course costs 75,000 FCFA. If her D+1, D+7, D+15, D+30 reminder schedule helped her recover 50,000 FCFA of unpaid invoices in a quarter, the low end of the quoted range, the course would be covered in just over a quarter, not counting the NGO assignment. This is a calculation scenario, not a guaranteed result.
The Freelance and Digital Entrepreneurship track lists the levels before and after this one, including level 4 on growing an agency.
FAQ
Do I have to register a business to take this course?
No. Module 1 helps you decide with figures, and it may conclude that it is too early. Invoices, reminders, cash flow and the dashboard apply whatever your status.
Are the tax figures up to date?
Thresholds, rates and registration fees are those of September 2026, with their source (DGI Côte d'Ivoire, CEPICI, OHADA, and DGID and APIX for Senegal). They may change with the finance law voted in December; the course shows you where to check them.
How much time should I plan?
About 12 hours, exercises and projects included: allow 3 hours a week for 4 weeks, plus time for the paperwork at the registration desks.
How is the course delivered?
Written lessons, PDF handouts, exercises with answer keys, quizzes and two projects to submit, with no video or live classes. You have the course forum and WhatsApp support. The numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online (QR code) and ready to add to LinkedIn, is earned by passing the quizzes with at least 70 %; your final project must also be approved by a reviewer.
How do I pay from Abidjan?
With Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33. Access is activated within 24 working hours after payment and is no longer refundable once activated, so read the free module 1 on legal status first.
