The verdict in three sentences
A Sage 100 connector pays off as soon as your team re-keys more than 150 orders a month between your business app and Sage. The 2026 order of magnitude runs from 3,000 to 12,000 EUR excl. VAT in Europe and 5,000 to 15,000 USD in the US and Canada, depending on data direction, volume and conflict handling, excluding the data access licence. The real selection criterion is how you access Sage, not the quoted price: writing directly to the SQL database is cheaper on day one and far more expensive at the first upgrade.
Four ways to connect an application to Sage 100
Sage 100 does not offer an open REST API comparable to a SaaS product. Note that the French Sage 100 and the North American Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90/200) are different products, but both raise the same question: which access method, and how robust is it to version upgrades?
| Method | Principle | Setup cost (2026 order of magnitude) | Upgrade robustness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduled file import | The app generates a file, Sage imports it at set times | 1,500 to 3,000 EUR | Good, but no real time |
| Official business objects SDK | Vendor library that enforces business rules | 4,000 to 10,000 EUR | Very good |
| SQL read, SDK write | Fast database reads, controlled writes | 5,000 to 12,000 EUR | Very good |
| Direct SQL writes | Inserting into Sage tables | 2,000 to 5,000 EUR | Poor, risk of inconsistencies |
| Off-the-shelf integration platform | Ready-made connector, subscription | 100 to 400 EUR per month | Depends on the vendor |
The SDK route requires a specific licence from your Sage reseller, to include in the budget: depending on the reseller and number of companies, from a few hundred to about 1,500 EUR, plus annual maintenance.
What drives connector pricing
A one-way connector pushing validated orders into Sage stays simple. The budget rises when data flows both ways, because conflicts must then be resolved: a customer edited in both the app and Sage on the same day, an item deleted on one side but still ordered on the other.
| Scope | Sync frequency | 2026 market budget | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orders to Sage, one way | Every 15 minutes | 3,000 to 5,000 EUR | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Orders and customers to Sage | Every 10 minutes | 4,500 to 7,000 EUR | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Two-way customers, items, stock | Every 5 minutes | 7,000 to 10,000 EUR | 6 to 8 weeks |
| Two-way multi-company with payments | Every 5 minutes | 9,000 to 12,000 EUR | 8 to 10 weeks |
| North American Sage 100 | Depends on scope | 5,000 to 15,000 USD | 4 to 10 weeks |
| Monitoring and maintenance | Ongoing | 35,000 / 75,000 / 120,000 FCFA per month at Kolonell (50 / 110 / 180 EUR) | Ongoing |
Three items are often missing from quotes: the sync log (which order went through, when and with what result), failure alerts and historical data migration at launch. Get them in writing.
If the connector is part of a web app built by Kolonell, it is priced within the custom app scope: 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 FCFA (3,810 to 6,100 EUR) for a simple app, 4,000,000 to 7,000,000 FCFA (6,100 to 10,670 EUR) for a medium-complexity app with two-way flows.
Mini case study
Claire, management controller at an industrial SME in Lyon (illustrative persona), watches her sales assistant re-key 300 orders a month from the order-taking app into Sage 100, at about 4 minutes per order. That is 20 hours, or 2.5 days a month. At 45 EUR per loaded hour, the cost reaches 900 EUR a month, plus two or three quantity errors a month to fix with credit notes. An orders and customers connector via the SDK is quoted at 6,500 EUR, plus 900 EUR in licensing and 110 EUR a month in maintenance. Net saving: 900 minus 110, i.e. 790 EUR a month. Payback: 7,400 divided by 790, about 9.5 months.

FAQ
Will the connector survive a Sage 100 upgrade?
Yes if it goes through the official SDK, which the vendor maintains. Direct SQL writes can break with every upgrade, with 1 to 3 days of fixes to plan each time.
Can we sync in real time?
A 5-minute interval covers most needs and limits load on the Sage server. Strict real time adds 20 to 30% to the budget for a benefit rarely noticed.
Is a hosted Sage 100 a problem?
No, but you need secure server access, often via VPN, and the host's approval. Allow 1 to 2 weeks of admin lead time.
What happens if Sage rejects an order?
It stays in the queue with a readable reason and an email alert is sent. With clean configuration, fewer than 1% of orders need manual intervention.
Should we move to cloud Sage first?
Not to connect an app. The connector works with on-premise or hosted installs; migration should be decided on other grounds.
