The verdict in three sentences
For a law firm in Antwerp, a local agency is the better choice when your clients are mainly Flemish companies and individuals, when the site must read as native Dutch and when you want portraits, video and workshops in your offices. A remote studio such as Kolonell fits when the practice is international (shipping, logistics, trade, corporate work for foreign groups), when English or French carry the site and when you want a fixed price of 2 700, 4 500 or 8 200 EUR with delivery in 3 to 4 weeks. In both cases, judge the proposal on Dutch copy, confidentiality, ownership and the bar's advertising rules, not on the design mock-up alone.
Which criteria actually separate a local agency from a remote studio?
| Criterion | Antwerp agency | Remote studio (Kolonell) |
|---|---|---|
| Physical presence | Meetings in your offices, workshops with partners | Google Meet calls at your hour, written update every week |
| Photos and video on site | Usually organised by the agency | Not included: you book a local photographer, we write the brief |
| Dutch copy | Native, often written with your lawyers | Provided by you or quoted separately |
| English and French copy | Often translated, sometimes outsourced | Native writers, bilingual FR/EN included in Premium |
| Time zone | Same | Team in Senegal (GMT), one or two hours behind Antwerp |
| Price | 9 000 to 35 000 EUR, order of magnitude 2026 | 2 700 / 4 500 / 8 200 EUR, fixed price |
| Timeline | 8 to 14 weeks | 3 to 4 weeks, Premium usually 4 to 6 |
| Ownership | Check the contract | Domain in your name, every access handed over |
The agency ranges are cautious orders of magnitude drawn from public price pages of Flemish agencies, minimum project sizes on Clutch.co profiles, published hourly rates (often 75 to 125 EUR an hour in Antwerp) and freelance rates on Malt and Upwork, where a Belgian freelancer typically quotes 2 500 to 8 000 EUR for a firm site. More detail on what we include is on our international website offer.
When is a local Antwerp agency the right call?
Say it plainly: in several situations, staying local is the better decision.
- Your clients are mostly Flemish. Family businesses, real estate clients, employment matters, private clients: they search and read in Dutch, and legal Dutch written by a native professional makes a visible difference.
- Recruitment is a priority. Attracting trainees and associates relies on video portraits, office photos and campus events that a local team organises easily.
- You want co-creation in person. Some partnerships need two or three workshops around the table to agree on positioning.
- Dutch search visibility is the main goal. A local agency with legal content experience in Dutch will usually do better than a team that does not write Dutch.
When does a remote studio like Kolonell make sense?
- An international practice. Antwerp's port, logistics, diamond and chemical clusters bring foreign clients who read English first; French matters for Brussels and Wallonia clients and for francophone Africa and France.
- A clear, fixed budget. Partners approve one figure, paid by bank transfer or Wise, 50 % at the start and 50 % at delivery.
- Speed. A site live in 3 to 4 weeks, or a written plan of usually 4 to 6 weeks in Premium.
- Dutch handled in house. Many firms already have lawyers who write Dutch well; they provide or review the Dutch pages, and we integrate them (integration quoted separately).
A useful reference: we built a bilingual FR/EN site for TR Signing Group (trsigninggroup.com), a notary and apostille service in New Jersey, with quote requests checked file by file and an appointment calendar. It is a different jurisdiction, but it shows how we handle a legal service with two languages and careful forms.
How do the packages compare for a law firm?
| Item | Starter 2 700 EUR | Growth 4 500 EUR | Premium 8 200 EUR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical firm | Solo lawyer or two partners | Boutique of 4 to 10 lawyers | Firm with several practice groups |
| Practice area pages | Up to 4 | One page per practice area | Practice areas plus sector pages (maritime, logistics, trade) |
| Team pages | Group page | One profile per lawyer | Profiles with publications and languages spoken |
| Contact | Simple form, no file upload | Form with matter type and conflict check reminder | Separate routes for companies, individuals and referring firms |
| Languages | One | One | Bilingual FR/EN included, Dutch provided by you or quoted |
| Support after launch | 3 months | 3 months | 6 months |
A client portal, secure document exchange, an online appointment system tied to your practice management software or an intranet are custom applications, quoted on request. Ongoing SEO is also quoted on request.
What do the rules and the Antwerp context require?
In Flanders, lawyers' ethics are set by the Orde van Vlaamse Balies and the local bar, including rules on advertising and communication; read the current rules or ask your bar before launch, as we stay general here. In practice, firm websites keep to factual information: practice areas, team, languages, fees policy, and no promise of results or misleading comparisons. Professional secrecy shapes the site too: no client names without consent, no case details, and a contact form that warns visitors not to send confidential documents before a conflict check. Personal data falls under the GDPR, and accessibility is best built to WCAG 2.1 AA; the European Accessibility Act, applicable since 28 June 2025, covers certain consumer services, so check whether it applies to your firm. This is not legal advice.
Which questions should you ask before signing?
Need a professional website?
Kolonell builds websites that attract clients, optimized for the Sénégalese market. Free quote in 2 minutes.
- Who writes each language, and does a lawyer review the Dutch and French?
- Where is the site hosted, and are form submissions stored in the EU?
- What happens to the domain and accesses if you change provider?
- How many correction rounds are included, and what does a new practice page cost?
- Red flag: a proposal with client logos, success rates or « best lawyer » claims. Ask for factual wording instead.
Mini case study
Illustrative example. Els M. is managing partner of a seven-lawyer boutique near the port, working in maritime, transport and commercial law for Belgian and foreign clients. Domestic work comes mainly by referral; the website mostly serves foreign shipping and trading companies. She compares:
- Antwerp agency: 24 000 EUR, Dutch, English and French, partner portraits included, 12 weeks.
- Kolonell Premium: 8 200 EUR, bilingual FR/EN, plus 900 EUR to integrate Dutch pages written by two associates, plus a portrait session with an Antwerp photographer for 1 200 EUR.
Kolonell option: 8 200 + 900 + 1 200 = 10 300 EUR, against 24 000 EUR, a gap of 13 700 EUR, in exchange for about 15 hours of internal time on the Dutch pages. Had her domestic clientele been the priority, the agency would have been the stronger choice.
FAQ
Can a Belgian law firm advertise on its website?
Yes, within the ethics rules of the Orde van Vlaamse Balies and the local bar, which favour factual information. Check the current rules before launch; this is not legal advice.
Do we need Dutch, French and English?
An Antwerp firm with local clients needs Dutch; an international practice usually needs English, and French helps with Brussels and francophone clients. Kolonell Premium includes FR/EN, with Dutch provided by you or quoted.
Is a remote studio safe for confidentiality?
The site itself should hold no client files: forms collect only a name, contact and matter type in 3 to 5 fields. Hosting in the EU and a no-documents warning on the form cover most concerns.
How much does a local agency charge compared with Kolonell?
As a 2026 order of magnitude, 9 000 to 35 000 EUR for an Antwerp agency and 2 500 to 8 000 EUR for a freelancer, against 2 700, 4 500 or 8 200 EUR with Kolonell.
How long does it take?
Starter and Growth take 3 to 4 weeks once texts are approved; Premium follows a written plan, usually 4 to 6 weeks.
Let's scope your project. Send us your practice areas, team size and the languages your clients read, and we will propose a fixed-price package delivered in 3 to 4 weeks. Request your free quote or see the international offer.
