The verdict in three sentences
If you can already build a responsive page in HTML and CSS in Abidjan, five weeks at 4 hours a week are enough to cover the course JavaScript: make a website live and interactive (level 3 Intermediate, 75,000 FCFA, 16 h). You write code from the first lesson, with exercises checked automatically in your browser, and you finish with an interactive catalogue with a cart and WhatsApp ordering published on GitHub. You need a computer with VS Code and Chrome: a phone is not enough for this course.
Before you start: the right starting point
The course assumes no JavaScript knowledge, but it does assume HTML and CSS. If you are not there yet, start with level 2 of the track, HTML and CSS. All five levels are described on the Web Development track page: the full track costs 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000.
| Option in Abidjan | Indicative 2026 cost | Format |
|---|---|---|
| JavaScript module at a training center | 150,000 to 300,000 FCFA (order of magnitude) | In person, fixed hours, commuting through traffic |
| Full web developer bootcamp | 500,000 FCFA and up (order of magnitude) | Several months, full time or evenings |
| Free online tutorials | 0 FCFA (excluding data) | Often in English, no clear path |
| Kolonell Academy, JavaScript level 3 | 75,000 FCFA (about 115 EUR), one-off | 16 h, 6 modules, coding exercises, lifetime access |
| Full Web Development track (5 levels) | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | From HTML to full-stack developer |
Lessons are written, with coding exercises, a PDF handout and a quiz per module, and two projects to submit. There is no video and no live class. Details are on the JavaScript course page (the course is taught in French).
The week-by-week plan
The program recommends 4 hours a week for 4 to 5 weeks. Here is a five-week breakdown following the order of the six modules, with two 2-hour sessions a week, for example one weekday evening and Saturday morning.
| Week | Modules | What you can do by the end | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Module 1, language basics (free preview) | Variables, types, conditions based on an amount or delivery zone, loops | 4 h |
| 2 | Module 2, functions, arrays and objects | map, filter, find, reduce, JSON, properly formatted FCFA amounts | 4 h |
| 3 | Module 3, the DOM and events | Render a list from an array, react to clicks, tabs and mobile menu | 3 h 30 |
| 4 | Module 4, forms, validation and local storage | Validate Ivorian and Senegalese numbers, 18 % VAT, cart in localStorage, quote calculator project | 4 h |
| 5 | Modules 5 and 6, async, fetch, organizing and publishing | Load JSON or an API, handle 3G and errors, ES modules, final project published | 4 h 30 |
Week 5 is the heaviest. If you miss a session, spread it over six weeks: access is for life, there is no rush. What matters most is doing every coding exercise rather than just reading.
What you will have in your portfolio
At the end you have a GitHub repository organized in ES modules with a README, and several pieces you can show a client: a library of utility functions (FCFA formatting, VAT, number validation), a quote calculator linked to a form, a sign-up form with live validation, a page loading data from a public API, and the catalogue with search, filters, persistent cart and prefilled WhatsApp order.
| Possible outlet | 2026 order of magnitude (Dakar or Abidjan) |
|---|---|
| Showcase site with calculator, advanced form or interactive catalogue, as a beginner freelancer | 200,000 to 500,000 FCFA per site |
| One-off module added to an SME's website | 50,000 to 150,000 FCFA |
| Logical next step in the track | Level 4, React and Next.js |
These amounts are 2026 orders of magnitude that vary by profile; your portfolio and clients determine where you land, and no income is guaranteed. This level covers neither servers nor databases: the cart cannot take an online payment, it prepares a WhatsApp order.

Short, practical online courses (taught in French), graded exercises, certificate. Pay with Wave or Orange Money.
Consider a hypothetical learner: Yao, 23, a computer science student in Cocody who already builds pages in HTML and CSS. He follows the five-week plan. Illustrative math: the course costs 75,000 FCFA. If he then added a single quote-calculation module to an SME's website, at the low end of the range at 50,000 FCFA, he would cover two thirds of it; a second module would cover the rest. If no client turns up quickly, he still has a GitHub repository showing he can code, useful for an internship or for moving on to React. This scenario is purely illustrative.
FAQ
I have never written JavaScript. Is level 3 too advanced?
No. Module 1 starts from zero on the language. It only assumes you can write a page in HTML and CSS, which is what level 2 covers.
How are coding exercises corrected?
Each exercise is checked automatically by tests in your browser: you see right away what passes and what fails, with a message telling you what to fix. There is no individual correction by a trainer.
Can I follow it on a phone?
You can read lessons on a phone, even on 3G. To code you need a computer with VS Code and Google Chrome, and about 16 hours in total.
How do I pay from Abidjan?
75,000 FCFA via Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33, access activated within 24 working hours and for life. Access is not refundable once activated: do the free module 1 first.
What is the certificate worth?
You receive a numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online via QR code, that you can add to LinkedIn, by passing the module quizzes with at least 70 %; your final project must also be approved by a reviewer. For a client, your GitHub repository and live catalogue say more. Questions go to the course forum or WhatsApp support.
