The verdict in three sentences
In Dakar, SMEs no longer want just a brochure website: they ask for online ordering, appointment booking and an admin area, and these applications are built today with React and Next.js. The course React and Next.js: building modern web applications (level 4 Intermediate, 100,000 FCFA, 24 h, taught in French) takes you from JavaScript that manipulates the DOM to two complete applications, tested and deployed. A junior developer who can do this may bill an ordering or booking app for an SME 400,000 to 1,200,000 FCFA (about 610 to 1,830 EUR), or aim for a first job at 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA a month (2026 order of magnitude, depending on the profile, no income is guaranteed).
Who it is for, and what equipment you need
This level is for the beginner JavaScript developer, the computer science student, the front-end integrator or the Dakar freelancer who wants to deliver applications and not just pages. The prerequisites are precise: level 3 "JavaScript: making a website lively and interactive" of the Web development track is recommended, or equivalent command of functions, arrays, objects, the DOM, ES modules and fetch, plus HTML and CSS basics.
For equipment, you need a computer with Node 22, VS Code, Git and Google Chrome. The lessons can be read on a phone, but the code is written on a computer. A machine with 8 GB of RAM runs Vite and Next.js without trouble; with 4 GB, close Chrome during builds. TypeScript is not required: modules 1 to 5 are in JavaScript, and from module 6 the examples use light TypeScript explained along the way.
The program and the running thread: Chez Fatou, then Awa Beauté
The course follows two SME applications. First, online ordering for "Chez Fatou", a restaurant in Thiès, built in React with Vite. Then the website and booking system for the "Awa Beauté" salon in Dakar, built in Next.js, tested and put online.
| Module | Key notions | Project to submit |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Getting started with React: components, JSX and props (free preview) | Vite project, JSX, props, children | Chez Fatou's menu as components |
| 2. State and events | useState, updating without mutating, derived state | The interactive cart |
| 3. Lists, forms and validation | Controlled forms, error messages | The validated order form |
| 4. Effects, data and custom hooks | useEffect, useFetch, useLocalStorage | Daily menu loaded from an API |
| 5. Global state and architecture | useReducer, Context, persistent cart | The complete ordering application |
| 6. Next.js: App Router, server rendering and SEO | Layouts, Server Components, metadata | Awa Beauté's Next.js website |
| 7. Server Actions, server validation and authentication | Server Actions, Zod, Route Handlers, session | Booking and manager area |
| 8. Tests, performance and production | Vitest, Testing Library, Core Web Vitals, Vercel or VPS | The Awa Beauté app tested and online |
The tools are the ones the market uses in 2026: React 19, Next.js 15, Zod, Vitest, Testing Library, Lighthouse, Vercel, Git and GitHub. Code exercises on logic (cart calculations, validation, reducers) are tested automatically in the browser; notions specific to React and Next.js are checked through quizzes and end-of-module projects. Databases, a full API and payments belong to level 5, Full-stack JavaScript developer.
Price, duration and possible earnings
| Option | Indicative 2026 price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free tutorials and documentation | 0 FCFA | Excellent but no running thread or SME projects |
| In-person bootcamp in Dakar | order of magnitude 500,000 to 1,500,000 FCFA | Several months, fixed hours |
| Kolonell Academy, level 4 React and Next.js | 100,000 FCFA (about 152 EUR), 24 h | Lessons, code exercises, PDFs, 8 quizzes, 8 projects, lifetime access |
| Full Web development track (5 levels) | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | From HTML to full-stack |
| Opportunity in Dakar | 2026 order of magnitude | |
| Ordering or booking app for an SME (freelance) | 400,000 to 1,200,000 FCFA per project | |
| First job after an internship | 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA a month | |
| Fast-growing start-up | up to 500,000 FCFA a month | |
| Course duration | 5 to 6 weeks at 4 to 5 h a week | |
| Final project alone | about 4 hours |
These figures depend on your level, your portfolio and the market; the course guarantees no internship, job or contract.
Mini case study
Consider a hypothetical learner: Moussa, 23, a computer science student in Dakar who has finished level 3 JavaScript. He takes level 4 over six weeks at five hours a week and publishes the Awa Beauté app on GitHub with its portfolio README. Illustrative calculation: if he then lands a small online booking mission for a salon at 400,000 FCFA, the bottom of the range, the 100,000 FCFA course would represent a quarter of that mission. If he aims for a first job at 250,000 FCFA a month instead, the cost would equal less than two weeks of salary. This scenario is not an achieved result: it is a simple comparison calculation.

FAQ
Do I need to have taken level 3 JavaScript?
It is recommended. If you can already write functions, use map and filter, manipulate the DOM and call an API with fetch, you can start directly at level 4.
Why React and Next.js rather than Vue or Angular?
React is the most requested library in internship and freelance listings in 2026, and Next.js is the most used framework to put it in production. The notions (components, state, server rendering) then carry over to Vue or Svelte.
Are there videos or a live trainer?
No. The course relies on text lessons, automatically tested code exercises, PDFs, 8 quizzes and 8 projects. Questions go to the course forum and WhatsApp support.
What is the certificate worth?
It is a numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online via QR code, addable to LinkedIn, obtained by passing the module quizzes with at least 70 %; your final project must also be approved by a reviewer. For a recruiter, your live app on GitHub will weigh at least as much.
How do I pay and when can I start?
