The verdict in three sentences
If you can already build a responsive page in HTML and CSS, the Level 3 Intermediate course at 75,000 FCFA (about 115 EUR, 16 h) takes you from a site that just displays to a site that responds, with projects you can show to a client in Dakar. You code a quote calculator for a Dakar service provider, then a catalogue with search, filters, a persistent cart and a prefilled WhatsApp order, published online. The official course page puts a showcase site with such features at 200,000 to 500,000 FCFA for a beginner freelancer in 2026, a range that depends on your portfolio and is not a guarantee.
The projects, from smallest to most complete
The course JavaScript: make a website lively and interactive is taught in French and has six modules of 15 to 20 minute lessons, almost all of them CODE exercises. Each exercise is checked automatically by tests in your browser: you immediately see what passes, what fails and what to fix. Each module also has a PDF handout and a quiz.
| Deliverable | Module | JavaScript concepts | Use for a client in Dakar |
|---|---|---|---|
| Library of tested functions: FCFA formatting, VAT calculation, phone number validation | 2 | Functions, numbers, map, reduce | Display 125,000 FCFA cleanly, 18 % VAT |
| Interactive quote calculator linked to a form (project to submit) | 4 | FormData, dynamic calculations, discounts, delivery fees | A caterer, plumber or printer pricing live |
| Sign-up form validated in real time | 4 | input and submit events, Senegalese and Ivorian numbers | School enrolment, appointment booking |
| Page fed by a public API, with loading state and error handling | 5 | fetch, async and await, 3G connections | Showing data without freezing on slow networks |
| Catalogue with search, filters and persistent cart | 6 | DOM, filter, localStorage | Fashion shop, hardware store, bookshop |
| Prefilled WhatsApp order generated from the cart (final project) | 6 | Strings, URL encoding, ES modules | The way many shops sell in Senegal |
| GitHub repository organised in ES modules with a README | 6 | import, export, debugging | Your showcase for recruiters and clients |
Two projects are to be submitted: the quote calculator (module 4) and the interactive catalogue with cart and WhatsApp order (final project, module 6). The cart does not take Wave payments at this level: real online payment needs a server, covered in Level 5. Everything runs in the browser, with no back end or database.
What you need to start, and what it costs
The prerequisite is having taken Level 2 HTML and CSS, or being able to build a responsive page. No prior JavaScript knowledge is required. You need a computer with VS Code and Google Chrome, and should plan 4 hours a week for 4 to 5 weeks. The tools are free: VS Code, Chrome and its developer tools, Node.js, GitHub and Netlify for publishing.
| Option | Indicative 2026 price | Duration | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kolonell Academy, Level 3 JavaScript | 75,000 FCFA, one-off | 16 h, 4 to 5 weeks | 6 modules, tested code exercises, 2 projects, numbered certificate |
| Level 2: HTML and CSS | 50,000 FCFA | 12 h | The essential foundation before this course |
| Full Web Development track | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | 5 levels, about 103 h | Up to full-stack developer |
| Classroom web development bootcamp in Dakar | 500,000 to 1,500,000 FCFA (rough estimate) | Several weeks full time | In-room supervision, fixed hours |
| Free online tutorials | 0 FCFA apart from data | Variable | Scattered concepts, rarely a project suited to the local market |
This course is Level 3 of the Web Development track: after Discover code (25,000 FCFA) and HTML and CSS (50,000), before React and Next.js (100,000) and Full-stack developer (200,000). The full track costs 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000, and a course already bought is deducted. Why not jump straight to React? Because React is JavaScript: without map, objects and async, you get stuck at Level 4.
What these projects can earn

Short, practical online courses (taught in French), graded exercises, certificate. Pay with Wave or Orange Money.
Consider a hypothetical learner: Ousmane, 23, a student in Dakar, already builds HTML and CSS pages for people he knows. He pays 75,000 FCFA and takes the course at 4 hours a week for five weeks. With his quote calculator and catalogue published on Netlify, he has two demos to show. If, purely as an illustration, he sold a single calculator module for 100,000 FCFA to a caterer in Ouakam, the course would be paid back with 25,000 FCFA left over. This is an example: finding that client depends on his prospecting, not on the course alone.
FAQ
I have never written JavaScript. Is this too advanced?
No. Module 1, a free preview, starts the language from zero: variables, conditions, loops. It only assumes you can write a page in HTML and CSS, the subject of Level 2 at 50,000 FCFA.
Are the code exercises corrected?
Yes, automatically: tests run in your browser and show what fails. There is no video and no live class; for questions, you have the course forum and WhatsApp support.
Can I follow it on my phone?
You can read the lessons on a phone over 3G, but coding requires a computer with VS Code and Chrome. Plan about 16 hours, that is 4 to 5 weeks at 4 hours a week.
How do I get the certificate?
By passing each module quiz with at least 70 %, you receive a numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online via QR code, that you can add to LinkedIn; your final project must also be approved by a reviewer. It certifies a completed course, it is not a diploma.
How do I pay the 75,000 FCFA?
With Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33. Access is activated within 24 working hours and stays open for life with updates. It is no longer refundable once activated, so try module 1 first.
