The verdict in three sentences
The Discover Coding course is the cheapest way in to find out whether web development suits you: 25,000 FCFA (about 38 EUR / 41 USD) for 6 h, level 1 Beginner, no experience required. You need a Windows, macOS or Linux computer, even an old one, and 2 to 3 hours a week for 2 to 3 weeks. By the end you have hand-written your first HTML page and published it online with a shareable address you can send on WhatsApp.
Before you pay: the practical sheet
Here are the answers to the questions a high school student, a student at Alassane Ouattara University or an employee in Bouaké most often asks before enrolling. The course is taught in French.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do I need to know how to code? | No. Module 1 has no code at all; code starts in module 2, one tag at a time |
| What equipment? | A Windows, macOS or Linux computer, even an old one (VS Code and Chrome run on 4 GB of RAM) |
| What about my phone? | Enough to read the lessons, even on 3G; you need a computer to write and publish the page |
| Duration | About 6 h, exercises and final project included, or 2 to 3 weeks at 2 or 3 h a week |
| Price | 25,000 FCFA, lifetime access with updates |
| Payment | Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33, access activated within 24 working hours |
| Trial | Free module 1, to read before paying |
| Certificate | Numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online (QR code), to add to LinkedIn |
The format is written: lessons to read, coding exercises to do in VS Code, one quiz per module and a final project. There is no video, so it uses little data. For questions, you have the course forum and WhatsApp support.
What you do in those 6 hours
The programme fits in three modules.
| Module | Content | What you produce |
|---|---|---|
| 1. How the web works (free preview) | Browser, URL, domain name, DNS, server, the roles of HTML, CSS and JavaScript | Your web map, an annotated diagram of a page's journey |
| 2. First steps in HTML | Installing VS Code, headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images and file paths | Your installed environment and a structured HTML page |
| 3. Style, interaction and going live | Inspecting a real site with Chrome, adding CSS, a button that reacts to a click in JavaScript, publishing | Final project: your presentation page online |
Publishing is free with GitHub Pages or Netlify. A domain name in your own name (6,300 to 8,600 FCFA a year for a .com in 2026) is optional. You also finish with an inspection sheet of a real Ivorian or Senegalese website and your progression plan.
To be clear: this level is not enough to bill for development work. It gives you a clear picture of the job and an informed decision on whether to continue. As a 2026 order of magnitude, the programme cites a junior developer salary of 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA a month in Dakar, reachable only after the following levels and with no job guarantee.
What comes next if you get hooked
| Web Development track level | Price | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Discover Coding | 25,000 FCFA | 6 h |
| 2. HTML and CSS: build and lay out a real website | 50,000 FCFA | 12 h |
| 3. JavaScript: make a website lively and interactive | 75,000 FCFA | 16 h |
| 4. React and Next.js | 100,000 FCFA | 24 h |
| 5. Full-Stack JavaScript Developer | 200,000 FCFA | 45 h |
| Full track (5 levels) | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | 103 h |
For comparison, an introduction to computing or the web at a training centre in Bouaké costs roughly 30,000 to 75,000 FCFA, on fixed hours. Free tutorials exist, but with no guided project and no certificate. All levels are on the Web Development track page.
Mini case study
Learn this skill with Kolonell Academy
Short, practical online courses (taught in French), graded exercises, certificate. Pay with Wave or Orange Money.
Consider a hypothetical learner: Yao, 19, a first-year student in Bouaké who is unsure about getting into development. He has no computer of his own but can use his older brother's three evenings a week.
His calculation is simple: 25,000 FCFA for the course, plus about 2,000 FCFA of mobile data to read the lessons on his phone, or 27,000 FCFA to find out in three weeks whether the job suits him. If he continues, he can take the full track at 350,000 FCFA; if he stops, he has spent less than 8 % of that amount and knows how to talk to a developer. This scenario is an illustration, not a result.
FAQ
I have never coded. Is this really for me?
Yes, you are exactly the target audience. Module 1 explains the web without a single line of code, and module 2 has you write your first tag. You only need to know how to use a browser and create a folder.
Can a cybercafé computer be enough?
For the final project, yes, as a fallback. VS Code and Chrome run on a 4 GB RAM machine, and publishing on GitHub Pages or Netlify is free.
How do I enrol and pay from Bouaké?
You pay 25,000 FCFA with Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33, and access is activated within 24 working hours. Once activated, it is non-refundable: read the free module 1 first on the Discover Coding course page: understand how a website works.
How do I get the certificate?
By passing the quizzes of all three modules with at least 70 %. It is a numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online by QR code, to add to LinkedIn.
Will I be a developer at the end?
No, and it is better to know that upfront. In 6 h you understand how a website works and publish your first page; the job requires levels 2 to 5 of the track.
