Engineering and construction firm website cost in Utrecht: local agencies vs Kolonell (2026)

Websites

The verdict in three sentences

In Utrecht, a website for an engineering and construction firm built by a local agency costs, as a 2026 ballpark, between 8 000 and 40 000 EUR, and the upper half of that range is common once project pages, a vacancy module and a Dutch and English version are involved. Kolonell builds the corporate, project reference and recruitment pages for a fixed price of 2 700 EUR, 4 500 EUR or 8 200 EUR, written in native English, with a project manager on Dutch working hours. Kolonell does not write Dutch or shoot on site: the Dutch text and the photography come from your side or are quoted separately.

What will a Utrecht agency, a freelancer or Kolonell quote you?

The ranges below are prudent. They come from public rate cards of agencies in Utrecht and the Randstad, minimum project sizes on Clutch.co profiles, hourly rates published by Dutch studios (often 85 to 130 EUR per hour) and WordPress or Webflow profiles on Upwork and Malt.

Being straight about it: a Dutch freelancer at 2 500 EUR can undercut our Starter plan, and an Utrecht agency that writes your Dutch pages natively is the safer choice if your buyers are mainly Dutch municipalities and regional water authorities (waterschappen) reading in Dutch. Kolonell earns its place when the English site matters: international recruitment, foreign joint venture partners, or a firm that works in English internally. Calls run on Google Meet in your working day; the team is in Senegal (GMT), one hour behind Utrecht in winter and two in summer, and you get a written update every week. Payment by bank transfer or Wise, 50 % at kickoff, 50 % at delivery. See our international website offer.

Which pages do Utrecht's infrastructure clients and engineers look for?

Utrecht sits at the centre of the Dutch rail and road network, and the national infrastructure agency Rijkswaterstaat and the rail network manager ProRail both have their head offices in the city. Around them, consultancies and contractors work on rail nodes, motorway widening around the Ring Utrecht, bridges and locks, dikes and water management, the redevelopment of the Utrecht Centraal station area, and dense housing districts such as the Merwedekwartier. Buyers and engineers arriving on your site want evidence, quickly.

What deserves care in the Netherlands:

  • Tenders and documents. Public contracts are published on TenderNed under the Public Procurement Act 2012, and above European thresholds on TED; bidders use the European single procurement document (UEA in Dutch). Keep your downloadable company profile and certificates dated and current.
  • Certifications as held, nothing more. VCA for safety, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and a level on the CO2 performance ladder, which several public clients use in award criteria: show them only if you hold them, with the level and expiry date.
  • Building rules. Since 1 January 2024 the Environment and Planning Act (Omgevingswet) and the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb) apply, the latter first for consequence class 1 works. If you offer quality assurance services under the Wkb, describe your accreditation exactly.
  • References with consent. Name a station, a bridge or a client only with written approval, and describe confidential projects anonymously.
  • Recruitment. Students and graduates from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and the technical universities in Delft, Eindhoven and Twente compare employers online, and many international engineers search in English.

Compliance, facts only. The GDPR (AVG in Dutch) applies to every form and CV on your site, under the supervision of the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025, mainly to certain products and services; WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA remains the practical technical reference. This is not legal advice.

What does the site cost over three years?

Both columns use the same maintenance assumption after the support period and the same hosting. Kolonell maintenance after support is quoted on request: the figure below is an assumption, identical on both sides.

Questions to put to every supplier

Need a professional website?

Kolonell builds websites that attract clients, optimized for the Sénégalese market. Free quote in 2 minutes.

Prefer a call back?

Leave your WhatsApp number and a Kolonell expert will get back to you within 1 business day. Free, no strings attached.

You are :
  • Who writes the Dutch and the English pages, and in what order? A site written in Dutch and machine translated reads badly to an international candidate.
  • Can your team publish a vacancy in ten minutes? If every vacancy needs a ticket to the agency, recruitment slows down.
  • Who owns the domain, the hosting account and the CMS logins? All three must be in your name.
  • How heavy are the project galleries? Ask for WebP or AVIF images and lazy loading.
  • Are the photo licences broad enough? Check web, tender files and social media use with the photographer.
  • Is a client or asset portal included? A portal, an extranet or an integration with your ERP or BIM environment is a custom application. At Kolonell it is quoted on request.

Mini case study

Illustrative example. Sanne V. is HR director of a 60-person civil and infrastructure consultancy in Utrecht. She has eight engineering vacancies open, and half of the strong applicants are international engineers who read English first. The current Dutch site stays in place, but the firm needs an English corporate and careers site. An Utrecht agency quotes 16 000 EUR for it, translation included. Sanne picks Kolonell Growth at 4 500 EUR, written in native English from interviews with two project leaders, and books a local photographer for two days at 1 600 EUR. Total: 6 100 EUR, roughly 9 900 EUR below the agency quote, with vacancy pages her team updates without help.

FAQ

Is Kolonell cheaper than a Dutch freelancer?

Not always. A freelancer can build a simple site for 2 500 EUR, below our Starter plan at 2 700 EUR. Kolonell adds a project manager, native English copy and a written fixed price.

Can Kolonell write the Dutch version?

No. Kolonell writes native English or French; Dutch text is supplied by you or a translator, or its integration is quoted separately. A bilingual structure is available from Premium at 8 200 EUR.

Can you connect the vacancy pages to our applicant tracking system?

Vacancy pages are included from Growth at 4 500 EUR. A live connection to an applicant tracking tool is quoted separately after we check its API.

How long does it take?

Usually 3 to 4 weeks on Starter and Growth. Premium gets a written schedule at kickoff, usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Do you come to Utrecht for meetings or photos?

No. Meetings are on Google Meet, and photography is done by your own photographer, typically 700 to 1 200 EUR per day in the Netherlands as a 2026 ballpark.

Let's scope your project. Send us your disciplines, your open vacancies and 5 projects you may name: we reply with a fixed-price plan and an English site delivered in 3 to 4 weeks. Request your free quote or see the international offer.
