Client Onboarding and KYC Automation Cost in Dubai (2026)

The verdict in three sentences

Automating client onboarding and KYC for a finance company costs about 13,000 to 38,000 USD (roughly 48,000 to 140,000 AED) in 2026 depending on the number of checks and integrations. For 1,500 files a month, onboarding time drops from 5 days to 24 hours and processing cost per file falls by more than half. The project stays under control if the final decision on high-risk files remains human and data is retained in line with local data protection law and your regulator's requirements (in Dubai, the UAE PDPL and Central Bank AML rules; the figures below come from our Casablanca benchmark, where the equivalent is Law 09-08 and Bank Al-Maghrib).

The automated journey, step by step

The customer fills in a web or mobile form, photographs their national ID card (Emirates ID in Dubai) and proof of address, then takes a selfie. Automatic reading (OCR) extracts name, ID number and expiry date. A consistency check compares the photo, the entered data and the proof of address. The system then queries sanctions lists (UN, national lists, politically exposed persons), computes a risk score and routes the file: automatic approval, analyst review or rejection. The contract is finally signed by e-signature.

Mini case study

Youssef, head of operations at a consumer lender (our reference case in Casablanca, directly transposable to a Dubai finance company), handles 1,500 files a month with 6 back-office agents. Each file takes 45 minutes manually, or 1,125 hours a month. After automation, 70 % of files are approved with no intervention and the remaining 30 % take 20 minutes: 150 hours a month. He saves 975 hours, which at a loaded 8.60 USD an hour is about 8,400 USD a month (78,000 MAD). The Standard project costs about 26,000 USD, plus 860 USD a month and 1.60 USD per file (2,400 USD). Net monthly gain: about 5,100 USD, payback in 5 months, not counting customers who no longer drop out during the 5-day wait. In Dubai, higher wages shorten that payback further.

FAQ

Does OCR work well on national ID cards?

Yes, market engines read Moroccan national ID cards and Emirates IDs with correct extraction above 95 % on reasonable photos. Plan manual handling for the 3 to 5 % of blurry or damaged documents.

Can a file be approved with no human involvement?

For low-risk files, yes, in about 70 % of cases. Files with a sanctions alert, a PEP or an inconsistency must go to an analyst, which remains a compliance requirement.

How much does e-signature cost per contract?

As an estimate, 0.50 to 1.60 USD per signature depending on provider and volume. Above 1,000 signatures a month, an annual plan is usually cheaper.

Do we need to replace our loan management software?

No. The KYC module connects to the existing tool through an API or file export. That connector costs about 3,200 to 6,500 USD depending on the quality of your vendor's documentation.

How long until a first launch?

An Essential journey can be live in 8 to 10 weeks. We recommend a one-month pilot on a single loan product before rolling out.
