Business account Senegal: why bank choice really matters
Design agency director, February 2026, back from Casablanca: 'Mohamed, I picked the first bank at registration, I regret it every month. Opaque fees, international wires taking 8 days, advisor who never replies.'
The choice of business bank in Senegal is not a detail. Over 5 years, the gap in cumulative fees between cheapest and most expensive reaches 1 to 3 million FCFA for a standard SME. And service quality directly affects your ability to collect, pay and finance.
Here is our 2026 field-tested comparison, based on 18 account openings supported in 2025.

FAQ
How long to open a business account in Senegal?
5 to 15 business days after submitting a complete file. SGCI and BICIS are slower (10-15 days) due to reinforced checks. UBA and Orange Bank open in 5-7 days.
Can I open an account before registration to deposit capital?
Yes. All Senegalese banks offer a 'capital in formation' account, blocked until RCCM is issued. You deposit funds on this account before finalising at APIX.
Which bank accepts a minimum capital of 100,000 FCFA?
UBA and Orange Bank accept smoothly. BOA and Ecobank can accept but will ask more questions. SGCI, BICIS, CBAO and BICEC will require at least 1 million FCFA to open without difficulty.
Must I be physically in Dakar to open the account?
For classic banks: yes, the manager must sign in branch. Orange Bank offers 100% remote opening with video verification, ideal for diaspora.
