The verdict in three sentences
For 15,000 SKUs and a mostly professional customer base, PrestaShop (12,000 to 30,000 EUR excl. VAT) offers the best balance in France, while in Singapore the realistic shortlist is Magento, Adobe Commerce or a custom build because PrestaShop talent is scarce in Asia. WooCommerce (8,000 to 20,000 EUR) becomes fragile above 10,000 products with variants, and Magento Open Source (40,000 to 90,000 EUR) is only justified with very complex price lists or several country sites. Adobe Commerce, from 40,000 USD a year in licence fees, targets mid-market firms above 5 million EUR of online revenue.
The criteria that really matter for an industrial B2B seller
B2B spare parts e-commerce has nothing in common with a consumer shop. The CEO of a parts distributor in Strasbourg or Singapore must handle customer-specific prices from the ERP, company accounts with several buyers, online quotes, 30 or 60-day payment terms, search by manufacturer part number and PDF technical sheets. A 15,000-SKU catalogue with machine compatibility data weighs heavily on the database and on search speed.
| B2B criterion (2026 status) | WooCommerce | PrestaShop | Magento Open Source | Adobe Commerce |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price per customer or group | Paid extension (100 to 300 EUR a year) | Native per group, module for customer price | Native (groups), advanced via extension | Native, shared catalogues |
| Multi-buyer company accounts | Extension | Module (200 to 500 EUR) | Extension | Native |
| Online quotes | Extension | Module | Extension | Native |
| Performance at 15,000 SKUs | Average, cache and Elasticsearch required | Good with cache and dedicated search | Very good, OpenSearch built in | Very good |
| Developer availability | Very high | High in France, low in Asia | Moderate, higher rates | Certified agencies, Singapore included |
| Average 2026 day rate | 400 to 550 EUR | 450 to 600 EUR | 650 to 900 EUR (SGD 900 to 1,300 in Singapore) | 750 to 1,000 EUR |
| Suitable monthly hosting | 80 to 250 EUR | 100 to 300 EUR | 300 to 900 EUR | Cloud included in licence |
Full 3-year budget
Build cost is only the first line. A B2B platform lives with its ERP connector (Sage, Cegid, SAP Business One, NetSuite), security updates and enhancements. The 3-year total cost gives a fairer picture.
| Item (2026 order of magnitude, excl. VAT) | WooCommerce | PrestaShop | Magento Open Source | Adobe Commerce |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build and catalogue integration | 8,000 to 20,000 EUR | 12,000 to 30,000 EUR | 40,000 to 90,000 EUR | 80,000 to 200,000 EUR |
| ERP connector | 4,000 to 10,000 EUR | 4,000 to 12,000 EUR | 8,000 to 20,000 EUR | 10,000 to 25,000 EUR |
| Modules and licences per year | 500 to 1,500 EUR | 800 to 2,000 EUR | 1,500 to 4,000 EUR | From 40,000 USD |
| Hosting and maintenance per year | 3,000 to 6,000 EUR | 3,600 to 7,200 EUR | 9,000 to 18,000 EUR | 12,000 to 24,000 EUR |
| 3-year total | 22,500 to 52,500 EUR | 29,200 to 69,600 EUR | 79,500 to 176,000 EUR | 228,000 EUR and more |
| Time to launch | 2 to 3 months | 3 to 4 months | 5 to 8 months | 6 to 10 months |
On payments, plan for cards via Stripe or a bank acquirer (1.2 to 1.8% in France for European cards, around 3.4% + SGD 0.50 for Stripe in Singapore), bank transfers (PayNow in Singapore) and above all payment on terms for account customers, handled by the ERP or a B2B financing service (1 to 3% of the basket). In France, mandatory e-invoicing from September 2026 requires a clean export to your approved platform; in Singapore, InvoiceNow (Peppol) plays the same role.
When custom becomes an option
Above 50,000 SKUs, complex compatibility rules (part X fits machines Y and Z depending on the year) or a product configurator, a headless architecture or a custom build at 60,000 to 150,000 EUR excl. VAT can beat Magento and Adobe Commerce over time: no licence, code fitted to your flows, and a very fast front end for technicians ordering from their phone on site.
Mini case study
Thomas, CEO of a spare parts SME in Strasbourg (15,000 SKUs, 1,200 business customers), handles 3,800 orders a year by phone and email, each taking 12 minutes of data entry, i.e. 760 hours a year at 38 EUR loaded cost, about 28,900 EUR. He chooses PrestaShop with a B2B module and Sage connector for 34,000 EUR excl. VAT, plus 6,000 EUR a year of maintenance. If 60% of orders move online from year two, he saves 456 hours, or 17,300 EUR a year, or 11,300 EUR net of maintenance, for a payback of about 3 years, not counting night and weekend orders that did not exist before. A Singapore distributor with the same volume would land closer to Magento at 70,000 EUR, with a payback nearer 5 years unless labour costs are higher.

FAQ
Can WooCommerce handle 15,000 SKUs?
Technically yes, but with many variants the WordPress database slows down without object caching and a dedicated search engine, which adds 1,500 to 3,000 EUR of work. Above 20,000 SKUs, PrestaShop or Magento are safer.
Is Magento Open Source free?
The licence is free, but skills cost 650 to 900 EUR a day and hosting 300 to 900 EUR a month. Human cost is what separates it from PrestaShop.
Can we show each customer's negotiated prices?
Yes, all four solutions support it with an ERP connector syncing price lists hourly or in real time. Allow 4,000 to 20,000 EUR depending on the ERP.
How long until launch?
From 2 to 3 months for WooCommerce to 5 to 8 months for Magento, including 3 to 6 weeks of product data enrichment.
Should we migrate if we already run WooCommerce?
Only if performance or B2B features are blocking. An optimisation at 3,000 to 6,000 EUR is often enough up to 10,000 SKUs.
