Questions about this course

Do I need a computer, or is a phone enough?

A computer is essential for coding: Windows, macOS or Linux, at least 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB recommended. You can read the lessons on your phone, but the coding exercises, projects and deployment are done on a computer. A used laptop at 120,000 or 150,000 FCFA in Dakar (about $200 to $250) is enough for the whole track.

How long does the track really take?

The content adds up to 45 hours, including lessons, exercises, quizzes and projects. At 5 to 8 hours a week, plan on 8 to 12 weeks. The capstone alone takes about ten hours. You go at your own pace, and access has no end date.

I have never written code. Can I follow along?

Yes, the track is designed to start from zero. Module 1 explains how the web works before your first tag, and every concept is followed by an auto-graded exercise. The only requirements are consistency and a willingness to dig in when a bug refuses to go away.

What happens when I get stuck on an exercise or a project?

Every coding exercise shows the failing tests and an explanation. If you are still stuck, post your code and your error message on the course forum: other learners and the Kolonell team reply, usually within the day on weekdays. Submitted projects receive written feedback based on the project rubric.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. The Kolonell Academy certificate is issued once you have passed all 8 quizzes and the capstone. It carries an ID that can be verified online, which you can add to LinkedIn and your resume. It certifies the projects you built, not just the hours you logged.

Does this track guarantee a job?

No, no course can guarantee that. What the track gives you is the proof recruiters and clients ask for: a portfolio of 8 projects, a deployed application, an active GitHub profile and a technical resume. Those are what lead to interviews and your first freelance contracts.

How do I pay?
