Possible earnings

In 2026, a junior developer earns 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA a month in Dakar (about $330 to $670), up to 500,000 FCFA at a fast-growing startup, and a junior web developer earns 200,000 to 350,000 FCFA in Abidjan; an experienced developer earns 400,000 to 800,000 FCFA in Dakar (about $670 to $1,330). As a freelancer, a business website is billed at 150,000 to 600,000 FCFA (400,000 to 1,500,000 FCFA through an agency) and a simple web application at 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 FCFA (about $1,670 to $5,000). Working remotely for European clients, an experienced developer typically bills 150 to 300 euros a day, or 98,000 to 197,000 FCFA; your portfolio and your network determine where you land in that range.

Indicative estimate, depending on your market, pace and work. No income is guaranteed.

Questions about this course

Do I need a computer, or is a phone enough?

A computer is essential for coding: Windows, macOS or Linux, at least 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB recommended. You can read the lessons on your phone, but the coding exercises, projects and deployment are done on a computer. A used laptop at 120,000 or 150,000 FCFA in Dakar (about $200 to $250) is enough for the whole course.

How long does the course really take?

Plan on about 60 hours, including lessons, exercises, quizzes and projects, and more if you are starting from zero, since the pace varies a lot from one person to another. At 5 to 8 hours a week, plan on 8 to 12 weeks. The capstone alone takes about ten hours. You go at your own pace, and access has no end date.

I have never written code. Can I follow along?

Yes, if you are motivated: the course starts from the basics, at a fast pace. Module 1 explains how the web works before your first tag, and every concept is followed by an auto-graded exercise. The only requirements are consistency and a willingness to dig in when a bug refuses to go away. If you prefer a gentler progression, the full Web Development track covers the same ground over 5 courses, from Essential to Expert.

What happens when I get stuck on an exercise or a project?

Every coding exercise shows the failing tests and an explanation. If you are still stuck, post your code and your error message on the course forum: other learners and the Kolonell team reply, usually within the day on weekdays. Submitted projects receive written feedback based on the project rubric.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. The certificate is issued once you have completed the lessons, passed the quizzes and your capstone has been approved by an instructor (feedback within 5 business days of your submission). It carries an ID that can be verified online, which you can add to LinkedIn and your resume. It certifies the projects you built, not just the hours you logged. The other projects are also reviewed by an instructor and make up your portfolio: they are what you show recruiters.

Does this course guarantee a job?

No, no course can guarantee that. What the course gives you is the proof recruiters and clients ask for: a portfolio of 8 projects, a deployed application, an active GitHub profile and a reviewed technical resume. Module 9 also teaches you how to apply and how to prepare for the technical interview. Those are what lead to interviews and your first freelance contracts.

Is this course the full track?

No. It is level 5 (Expert), the most advanced level of the Web Development track. The full track brings together the 5 courses, from Essential to Expert, for 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000; a course you already bought is deducted from the price.

How do I pay?

Via Wave or Orange Money. After enrolling you receive a pro forma invoice by email with the number to pay. Send the proof on WhatsApp: your access is activated within 24 business hours.

How long do I keep access?

For life, updates included. Learn at your own pace and revisit lessons as often as you need.

How do I get the certificate?

Complete the lessons, pass each module quiz with at least 70% and submit your final project: an instructor reviews and approves it (feedback within 5 working days). The certificate is then generated, with a unique number and a public verification page.

  • 5 to 8 hours a week for 8 to 12 weeks

About this course

You want a career that is hiring in Dakar, in Abidjan and remotely, but you are just starting out. What you lack is not one more tutorial: it is a structured method and proof you can show. This course reviews the basics at a fast pace, from your first HTML tag, then takes you all the way to a deployed full-stack application, with a portfolio you can send to a recruiter or a client.

The first four modules lay the foundations: HTML, responsive CSS, then JavaScript all the way to asynchronous code. Next you adopt Git and the terminal, then build React interfaces and server-rendered Next.js sites. Module 8 moves to the backend with Node, Express, PostgreSQL and Prisma, and module 9 turns your projects into a job application package.

This is the most advanced course in the track: 61 hours, 9 modules, 68 lessons and 185 graded exercises, including coding exercises checked by automated tests. Every module ends with a quiz and a project, 9 projects in all, assessed against a public grid, up to the capstone: order management for a WhatsApp store. Your verifiable certificate is issued once you have completed the lessons, passed the quizzes and had your capstone approved by an instructor.

You leave with an online portfolio, 8 clean GitHub repositories, a deployed full-stack application, a technical resume and a LinkedIn profile ready to send. In 2026, a junior developer earns 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA (about $330 to $670) a month in Dakar and 200,000 to 350,000 FCFA in Abidjan; as a freelancer, a simple web application bills at 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 FCFA (about $1,670 to $5,000). The course promises neither a job nor an income: it gives you real projects, which is what recruiters and clients look at.

This is level 5 (Expert), the summit of the Web Development track: it extends React and Next.js (level 4). Since it reviews the basics at a fast pace, motivated beginners can enroll directly; for a gentler progression, the full track brings together the 5 courses, from Essential to Expert, for 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000.

Who it is for: Motivated beginners ready for a sustained pace, career changers, students and employees aiming for a junior developer job or freelance work in Dakar, Abidjan or remotely.
