The verdict in three sentences
In Gibraltar, a yacht and private aviation charter website built by a local agency costs, as a 2026 order of magnitude, between 7 000 and 25 000 GBP, while studios on the neighbouring Costa del Sol often quote less, in euros. Kolonell builds the yacht and itinerary pages, the qualified charter request form and the legal pages for a fixed price of 2 300 GBP, 3 900 GBP or 6 900 GBP, with native English copy and a bilingual FR/EN site in Premium. For a broker who lives on the season, the real test is a site ready before spring, clear about your broker status, and one you own outright.
What does a charter site in Gibraltar need?
Gibraltar sits at the hinge of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Its marinas (Ocean Village, Queensway Quay, Marina Bay) host passing yachts, owners based on the Rock and crews preparing a season in the Balearics, along the Andalusian coast or towards Morocco. The Gibraltar Ship Registry, a member of the Red Ensign Group, also registers yachts. On the aviation side, Gibraltar's airport has limited capacity, and many of your clients' private flights also go through Málaga. Requests come from residents of the Rock, entrepreneurs in Marbella and Sotogrande, and clients from the UK and northern Europe.
The site should therefore:
- show real itineraries (the Strait, the Costa del Sol, the Balearics, the Atlantic) rather than a vague promise of 'the Mediterranean';
- qualify each request: dates, number of guests, departure port (Gibraltar, Sotogrande, Puerto Banús), duration, indicative budget, flexibility;
- read well in English and Spanish: Spanish is supplied by you or quoted separately;
- stay discreet: no client names, no guest photos, no yacht photos without a licence from the owner or the shipyard.
We have already delivered a multilingual site for an international real estate firm, Orven Properties (orvenproperties.com), off-plan property advisory in Dubai, in FR/EN/AR: the same logic of language-specific pages and qualified requests applies here, even though we have not yet built a yachting site.
What do Gibraltar agencies, freelancers and Kolonell charge?
Cautious orders of magnitude, not official figures: they draw on public price pages of agencies in Gibraltar and Andalusia, minimum project sizes on Clutch.co profiles, published hourly rates (often 60 to 100 GBP per hour on the Rock) and rates visible on Upwork, Malt and Fiverr.

To be frank: an Andalusian freelancer at the low end, with native Spanish, can cost less than our Growth plan. Kolonell brings a fixed scope, a project manager, native English copy and a written weekly update; you decide whether that justifies the gap. Payment by bank transfer or Wise, 50 % at kickoff, 50 % on delivery. Our team is based in Senegal on GMT, one hour behind Gibraltar in winter and two in summer. Which rules should your site respect?
In aviation, a charter flight is carried out by an operator holding an air operator certificate (AOC) issued by the competent civil aviation authority (the Civil Aviation Authority in the UK, EASA and the national authorities in the EU, or the local civil aviation authority). A broker must not present itself as the operator and should state who operates the flight. For yachts, commercial charter depends on the flag and the cruising area; the MYBA charter agreement is often used in the Mediterranean, and VAT on a charter varies with the location, for instance for a cruise in Spanish waters. Gibraltar has its own data protection law, and the EU GDPR applies if you target clients in Spain or elsewhere in the EU. Aim for WCAG 2.1 AA; the European Accessibility Act, applicable since 28 June 2025, covers certain services sold in the EU. This is not legal advice.

Which warning signs should you spot in a quote?
- A quote that says nothing about licences for yacht photos.
- A 'booking engine' promised inside a showcase site for under 10 000 GBP.
- Copy that presents an operator's fleet as your own.
- A deliverable with no schedule, when the season starts in spring.
- A domain name registered by the agency.
Ask: who writes the English, who supplies the Spanish, how many revision rounds, and what a yacht page added mid-season costs.
Mini case study
Illustrative example. Marta R. is an independent broker in Ocean Village. She charters 20 to 35 metre motor yachts along the Andalusian coast and in the Balearics, and sometimes arranges a private flight for her clients. In January she wants a site ready for April. Two quotes:
- Gibraltar agency: 12 000 GBP, English and Spanish, 10 weeks.
- Kolonell Growth: 3 900 GBP in 3 to 4 weeks, plus 900 GBP for a Spanish translation by an Andalusian translator and 500 GBP for a half-day photo session at the marina.
Kolonell option: 3 900 + 900 + 500 = 5 300 GBP, against 12 000 GBP, a gap of 6 700 GBP, with a February launch rather than March. Marta coordinates the translator and the photographer herself.
