The verdict in three sentences
For a language immersion school in Galway (German, Spanish or Mandarin track), the website is only credible if each language is written by a native speaker and checked by a teacher from that track. A local agency is the better choice if you also need Irish-language content, frequent filming and a partner who turns up at parent meetings. A remote studio works if your teaching team can review the target language and you want a fixed budget with delivery in 3 to 4 weeks.
Who writes each language? The deciding criterion
At an immersion school, the website is the first proof of linguistic quality. A machine-translated German page or a badly chosen Chinese character is spotted immediately by the families you want to attract.
| Set-up | English version | Immersion language version | Review | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Local agency + translation agency | Agency copywriter | External translator, €0.10 to €0.18 per word (ballpark) | Track teacher | Tone differs between languages |
| Local agency alone | Agency copywriter | Rarely offered | Volunteer parents | Incomplete target version |
| Remote studio, Premium tier | Native English copywriting | Languages set in the quote | Track teacher | Fewer face-to-face meetings |
| Freelancer + volunteer parents | Freelancer | Parents | None formal | Unpredictable timing, errors |
| School's own team | Leadership | Teachers | Internal | Workload during the September start |
A simple rule: whatever the provider, a native teacher from the track signs off the target version before it goes live. Allow 4 to 6 hours of review for a 20 to 25 page site.
Which other criteria matter in Galway?
| Criterion | Local agency | Remote studio |
|---|---|---|
| Meetings | In person, easy | Video calls; GMT shared all day in winter, 7 of 8 hours in summer |
| Classroom photo and video | Local crew available | Local photographer hired by the school, €400 to €900 a day (ballpark) |
| Irish-language content | Local writers easier to find | Possible if set in the quote |
| Price | Per project or day rate, €5,000 to €14,000 (typical quotes) | Fixed grid: €2,700, €4,500 or €8,200 |
| Ownership of domain and code | Write it into the contract | Write it into the contract |
| Support after launch | Monthly retainer, often €80 to €250 (market) | 3 months included, then on quote |
Galway draws families working in medical technology, at the university or for international employers, and many compare your school with a return to their home country's system. Your pages should therefore explain the place of English, the immersion language and Irish in the school week, and the pathways into secondary school.
When is the local agency clearly preferable?
- You want a trilingual site with a genuine Irish version, written by someone who knows local usage.
- You run regular cultural events (St Martin's lantern walk, Chinese New Year) and want photo coverage every time.
- Your board, made up of parents, wants to take part in workshops in person.
A remote studio is enough when your identity is established, two languages cover most families and the main need is a clear journey: enquiry, visit or open day booking, application, re-enrolment.
Data, consent and accessibility: what to check?
Need a professional website?
Kolonell builds websites that attract clients, optimized for the Sénégalese market. Free quote in 2 minutes.
School forms collect children's data: name, age, language spoken at home, sometimes additional needs. In Ireland that falls under GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Ask both providers where the data is hosted, how long it is kept and who can access it. For pupil photos, require a per-family consent register and a removal procedure within 48 hours, consistent with your child safeguarding policy. Target WCAG 2.2 AA in every language, including the correct language attribute on German or Chinese pages so screen readers pronounce them properly. This is not legal advice.
Links to student management software, an admissions tool or a parent portal are integrations on quote. The tiers are detailed on the international offer page.
Mini case study
Illustrative example: Annika Brandt founded a German immersion primary school in Galway with 140 pupils. Her site has to exist in English and German, about 25 pages of 400 words, so 10,000 words per language.
- Local agency: €10,500 for the English site, plus an external German translation of 10,000 words at €0.14, so €1,400. Total: €11,900.
- Remote studio on Premium, the multilingual tier, with English and German set in the quote: €8,200.
- Gap: €3,700. In both cases Annika gives 5 hours of review time to one of her native-speaker teachers.
Since an Irish version was not a priority and her classroom photos dated from September, she chose the remote studio and used €1,200 of the gap for a short film of the St Martin's lantern walk.
FAQ
One page per language or one site per language? A single site with a language switcher is enough for 2 or 3 languages, with separate paths (/de/, /en/) for search. All edits stay in one CMS.
Can machine translation do the job? It can provide a first draft, but an immersion school publishing a shaky German page loses credibility. Allow at least 4 to 6 hours of native review.
How long does it take? With Kolonell, 3 to 4 weeks from approved content; with a local agency and a separate translator, more like 10 to 14 weeks. Start before the spring visit season.
Should we publish fees? An annual range reassures relocating families, who often compare 3 or 4 schools. Show it as a ballpark and update it once a year.
What happens after the 3 months of support? Your team can update routine pages in the CMS; larger changes are on quote. Have at least 2 internal administrators so you do not depend on one person.
Let's scope your project. A bilingual or trilingual site, admissions journey, a budget of €2,700 to €8,200 and launch in 3 to 4 weeks. See the international offer or request a free quote: detailed reply within 48 hours.
