The verdict in three sentences
If you already know the basics of JavaScript, six weeks at about 4 hours a week are enough to cover the 24 hours of Kolonell Academy's level 4 React and Next.js course from Yamoussoukro. The plan follows the eight modules in order: components and state, forms and hooks, global state, then Next.js App Router, Server Actions and authentication, and finally testing and deployment. You finish with two SME applications, including a booking app that is tested, live and documented with a portfolio README, for 100,000 FCFA (about 152 EUR) paid once.
Before you start: level and equipment
This plan is for INP-HB students and developers in Yamoussoukro who already write functions, use map and filter, manipulate the DOM and call an API with fetch. If that is not you yet, level 3 of the track (JavaScript: making a website lively and interactive, 75,000 FCFA, 16 h) is the right starting point.
The recommended course is React and Next.js: build modern web applications, taught in French: level 4 Intermediate, 100,000 FCFA, 24 h. For equipment, you need a computer with Node 22, VS Code, Git and Google Chrome. A computer with 8 GB of RAM runs Vite and Next.js without trouble; with 4 GB, close Chrome during builds and stick to Vite for modules 1 to 5. No TypeScript knowledge is required: modules 1 to 5 are in JavaScript, then the Next.js examples move to light TypeScript, explained as you go.
The format: written lessons, code exercises whose logic (cart calculations, validation, reducers) is tested automatically in the browser, a PDF handout and a quiz per module, and one project to submit per module. No video and no live classes: you read, you code, you ship.
The week-by-week plan
The course page counts 4 to 5 hours a week for 5 to 6 weeks; this plan smooths the effort to about 4 hours, with a heavier final week for the final project, which alone takes close to 4 hours.
| Week | Modules | Key concepts | Project to submit | Estimated time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Modules 1 and 2 | Vite project, JSX, props, children, useState, events without mutation, derived state | The menu, then the interactive cart of the Chez Fatou restaurant | 4 h |
| Week 2 | Modules 3 and 4 | Lists with stable keys, controlled forms, validation, useEffect, loading and errors, useFetch and useLocalStorage hooks | The validated order form and the daily menu loaded from an API | 4 h |
| Week 3 | Module 5 | useReducer, Context, persistent global cart, folder structure | The complete Chez Fatou ordering app | 3 h |
| Week 4 | Module 6 | App Router, layouts, dynamic routes, Server and Client Components, metadata and SEO | The Next.js site for the Awa Beauté salon | 4 h |
| Week 5 | Module 7 | Server Actions, Zod validation, Route Handlers, sessions, middleware and protected pages | Online booking and the manager's area | 4 h |
| Week 6 | Module 8 | Vitest, Testing Library, Core Web Vitals, deployment on Vercel or a VPS | Final project: the Awa Beauté app tested and live, with README | 5 h |
| Total | 8 modules | React 19, Next.js 15, Zod, Vitest | 8 projects, 2 complete applications | About 24 h |
Two practical tips. Push every project to GitHub from week 1: by the end, your commit history tells the story of your progress better than a CV. And don't skip the performance lesson in module 8: in Côte d'Ivoire, a good share of your users will open the app on a phone over patchy 3G or 4G.
What it costs and what it can open up
| Option or outcome | 2026 ballpark | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Kolonell Academy, level 4 React and Next.js | 100,000 FCFA once (about 152 EUR) | 24 h, lifetime access, 8 projects |
| Full Web development track | 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 | 5 levels, from HTML to full-stack |
| Official docs and free tutorials | 0 FCFA, plus data | No guided SME projects |
| In-person bootcamp in Abidjan | Several hundred thousand FCFA (ballpark) | Fixed hours, travel from Yamoussoukro |
| Ordering or booking app for an SME | 400,000 to 1,200,000 FCFA per project | Range quoted on the course page, Dakar or Abidjan, no income guaranteed |
| First job after an internship | 200,000 to 400,000 FCFA a month in Dakar | Up to 500,000 FCFA at a start-up, depending on the profile |
These income figures are 2026 ballpark ranges quoted on the course page and vary by profile; no income or job is guaranteed. Note the scope of the level too: projects that need a database, payments and an API belong to level 5, Full-stack JavaScript developer. The Web development track bundles all 5 levels for 350,000 FCFA instead of 450,000 (about 535 EUR).
Mini case study
Consider a hypothetical learner: Yao, 22, a computer science student at INP-HB. He follows the plan for six weeks, on Saturday mornings and one weekday evening, and puts both applications on GitHub.

Short, practical online courses (taught in French), graded exercises, certificate. Pay with Wave or Orange Money.
Illustrative calculation: course 100,000 FCFA. If Yao then delivered a simple booking app for a salon or clinic in Yamoussoukro at the low end of the quoted range, 400,000 FCFA, a single project would cover the course cost four times over. Rates outside Abidjan may be lower, and landing that project depends on his network and portfolio: this is a scenario, not an achieved result.
FAQ
Do I need to have taken the level 3 JavaScript course?
It is recommended, not mandatory. If you write functions, use map and filter, manipulate the DOM and call an API with fetch, you can start here directly; the free module 1 will confirm it in about an hour.
Is six weeks realistic alongside my studies?
Yes at 4 hours a week, about 24 hours in total. During exams, lifetime access lets you spread it over ten weeks without losing anything.
Are the code exercises corrected?
Exercises on logic (cart, validation, reducers) are tested automatically in the browser. Concepts specific to React and Next.js are checked through the quizzes and the 8 end-of-module projects.
How do I pay from Côte d'Ivoire?
By Wave or Orange Money at +221 77 596 93 33; access is activated within 24 working hours. It is not refundable once activated, so try the free module 1 first.
What is the certificate worth?
It is a numbered Kolonell Academy certificate, verifiable online via QR code, which you can add to LinkedIn, earned by passing the quizzes with at least 70%; your final project must also be approved by a reviewer. It is not a diploma: for a recruiter, your deployed app and your GitHub repository will count for more.
