Engineering and construction firm website cost in Antwerp: local agencies vs Kolonell (2026)

The verdict in three sentences

In Antwerp, a website for an engineering and construction firm built by a local agency costs, as a 2026 ballpark, between 7 000 and 35 000 EUR, and a Flemish firm that needs Dutch, French and English pages often ends up near the top of that range. Kolonell builds the corporate, project reference, prequalification and careers pages for a fixed price of 2 700 EUR, 4 500 EUR or 8 200 EUR, with native English and French copy and a bilingual English and French site from Premium. Dutch is the language of most public buyers in Flanders and Kolonell does not write it, so for a Dutch-first site a Flemish agency is often the better fit.

What do Antwerp agencies, freelancers and Kolonell charge?

The ranges below are prudent. They rely on public rate cards of agencies in Antwerp and Flanders, minimum project sizes on Clutch.co profiles, hourly rates published by Belgian studios (often 75 to 115 EUR per hour) and freelance profiles on Malt and Upwork.

Plainly: a Flemish freelancer at 2 000 EUR undercuts our Starter plan, and an Antwerp agency can walk your sites, film on the Scheldt quays and write Dutch natively. Kolonell is a remote studio. It fits firms whose international and French-speaking clients matter as much as their Flemish ones: industrial owners in the port, contractors working in Brussels and Wallonia, foreign partners in joint ventures. Calls happen on Google Meet during your working day, with a written update every week; the team is in Senegal (GMT), one hour behind Antwerp in winter and two in summer. Payment by bank transfer or Wise, 50 % at kickoff, 50 % at delivery. See our international website offer.

What does the Antwerp market expect from an engineering or construction firm?

Antwerp mixes a very large industrial port with a dense historic city. Firms here work on the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and its chemical cluster (process installations, tank storage, quay walls, logistics warehouses), on the Oosterweel link and other large road works around the ring, on new districts such as Nieuw Zuid, on the redevelopment of the old docks around Eilandje, and on heritage renovation in the city centre. Owners are a mix of public bodies, port industrials and private developers, and each reads your site for different proof.

Belgian specifics, stated with care:

  • Contractor recognition. For many public works above certain amounts, Belgian law requires contractors to hold a recognition (erkenning, or agréation in French) in the relevant category and class. Show your categories and classes exactly as granted, with the date.
  • Public procurement. Public contracts follow the law of 17 June 2016 and are published on the federal e-Procurement platform, and on TED above European thresholds; bidders use the European single procurement document. A clear, dated capability file on your site helps evaluators and partners.
  • Safety and quality. VCA certification is widely requested in Flemish industrial work, alongside ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. List them only if you hold them, with expiry dates.
  • Sustainability. BREEAM and energy performance rules shape many projects; mention certified projects only when the certificate exists.
  • References with consent. Port and chemical sites often restrict photos and client names. Use anonymised descriptions unless you have written approval.

Compliance, facts only. The GDPR applies to all forms and CVs, under the supervision of the Belgian Data Protection Authority. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025, mainly to certain products and services; WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA is the usual technical reference. This is not legal advice.

How do the options compare over three years?

This time the comparison uses Premium, since most Antwerp firms need at least two languages. The maintenance assumption is identical on both sides and runs over 30 months, after the 6 months of support included in Premium. Kolonell maintenance after support is quoted on request: the figure is an assumption.

The gap is real, but the Dutch line is not trivial in Flanders. Price it before you decide.

What should you ask before signing?

  • Who writes each language natively? Ask for one sample page per language.
  • How are the recognition categories and certificates kept current? A capability file dated two years ago hurts more than no file.
  • Who owns the domain, hosting and CMS logins? All three in your name.
  • What do the photo licences cover? Web, tender files and social media, for port and site images alike.
  • Is a client extranet or site reporting tool included? Extranets, site reporting and links with ERP or BIM tools are custom applications. At Kolonell they are quoted on request.
  • Is a ranking promised? Walk away from any guarantee of first place on Google.

Mini case study

Illustrative example. Pieter D. is CEO of a design-build contractor in Antwerp that has just merged with a technical installation firm, giving a group of 70 people with one new brand. An Antwerp agency quotes 38 000 EUR for a trilingual site. Pieter compares two routes. Route one: the agency, everything in one contract. Route two: Kolonell Premium at 8 200 EUR for the English and French site aimed at port industrials and Brussels clients, a Flemish freelancer at 5 000 EUR for a Dutch site aimed at public buyers in Flanders, and a photographer for two days at 1 800 EUR. Route two totals 15 000 EUR, about 23 000 EUR less, but means two suppliers and two sites to keep consistent. Pieter picks route two because his growth comes from industrial clients; a firm living mostly on Flemish public tenders could reasonably choose the agency.

FAQ

Can Kolonell build a trilingual Dutch, French and English site?

The bilingual English and French structure comes with Premium at 8 200 EUR. Dutch text is supplied by you or a translator, or its integration is quoted separately.

Is a Flemish agency a better choice for public tenders?

Often, yes, when most of your work comes from Flemish public buyers who read Dutch. Local agencies charge 7 000 to 35 000 EUR and write Dutch natively.

How long does a Kolonell project take?

Usually 3 to 4 weeks on Starter and Growth. Premium gets a written schedule at kickoff, usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Do you photograph our sites in the port?

No, Kolonell does no on-site photography. Budget a 2026 ballpark of 700 to 1 200 EUR per day for a local photographer, plus the site's access procedure.

What does support cover after launch?

3 months of support on Starter and Growth, 6 months on Premium. After that, maintenance is quoted on request.

Let's scope your project. Send us your expertise, your recognition categories, 5 projects you may name and the languages you need: we reply with a fixed-price plan and a site delivered in 3 to 6 weeks depending on the plan. Request your free quote or see the international offer.
