The verdict in three sentences

For a boutique hotel in downtown Nassau, on Cable Beach or near Paradise Island, a redesign with a fixed-grid studio costs USD 4,900 to 8,900, against a 2026 ballpark of USD 12,000 to 40,000 in typical local agency quotes. The most underestimated risk is the cutover itself: going live in peak season, during Junkanoo or without testing the booking engine on real dates can cost more than the whole project. The safest window is May or early June, or failing that late October to late November, with a cutover plan written hour by hour.

Does your site really need a redesign?

Nassau properties host a mix of resort guests, cruise passengers in port and business travellers. A site built five or more years ago often shows the same symptoms: a booking engine opening in a separate window, the total price shown only at the last step, galleries of 40 uncompressed photos, no long-stay pages, forms asking for a passport number. If your property also lives on stays of a month or more, the lack of dedicated pages for long-stay rates and amenities (kitchen, laundry, workspace) is a signal on its own.

What does the redesign cost by scope?

The figures below are 2026 ballparks drawn from typical agency quotes and public rate pages. They exclude rebuilding the booking engine, which should not happen.

Every Kolonell tier includes a project manager reachable in your time zone, native English or French copywriting and delivery in 3 to 4 weeks once content is ready. Details are on the international offer page.

How do you choose the cutover moment?

The mid-December to mid-April high season and the Junkanoo nights of 26 December and 1 January are off limits. Hurricane season, 1 June to 30 November, usually peaks from late August to October: avoid switching during a storm watch, because the team will be busy elsewhere and the traveller information page must stay stable.

Here is a typical cutover plan, to adapt:

WhenActionOwnerCheck
D minus 14Content freeze, final URL inventoryHotel and studioList of pages that get traffic
D minus 7301 redirect map signed offStudio100% of room and offer pages covered
D minus 2DNS TTL lowered to 300 secondsStudio or registrarValue checked online
D minus 1Test bookings on real dates in stagingStudio and engine vendorTotal price, taxes and fees correct, confirmation email received
D day, morningDNS switch, MX records unchangedStudioEmail sending and receiving tested
D day, afternoonGoogle profile updated, sitemap submittedStudioSearch Console with no major error
D plus 1 to D plus 42Weekly monitoringStudio404 errors fixed within 48 hours

Pick a Tuesday or Wednesday, never a Friday: if something breaks, the booking engine vendor must be reachable.

What other risks, and when is a local provider better?

  • Email continuity. Many hotels host email with the same provider as the website. If MX records change by mistake, booking confirmations stop arriving. A snapshot of the DNS zone before any change prevents this.
  • Long-stay pages. They keep their URL if already indexed, and monthly rates come from the engine, never typed by hand.
  • Restaurant and bar. HTML menus, allergens checked by the kitchen before go-live.
  • Accessibility. Target WCAG 2.2 AA: alt text, contrast, a date picker usable by keyboard as far as the embedded engine allows, accessible rooms described factually.
  • Personal data. In The Bahamas, the Data Protection (Privacy of Personal Information) Act 2003 governs collection. Forms stick to name, email, dates and guest count; payment stays inside the engine. This is not legal advice.
  • Marketing copy. Hotel classification mentioned only if officially held; rate parity belongs to your contracts with online travel agencies.

A Nassau provider keeps the edge if you need frequent on-site work, for instance on lobby digital signage, or a team that also runs your campaigns with cruise lines. Ask each candidate who executes the DNS switch, at what time, and who is reachable that evening.

Mini case study

Illustrative example: Coral Lane Suites, an aparthotel-style property of 35 studios near Cable Beach, focused on stays of two weeks to three months. Its manager, Desmond, chooses the Growth tier at USD 4,900, with a long-stay section and one page per studio type. He plans a local photographer, a third-party cost estimated at USD 1,800. Re-embedding the engine stays on quote. Over three years he adds maintenance at USD 125 a month for 33 months, or USD 4,125 (market assumption; Kolonell maintenance after the 3 included months is on quote). Total: 4,900 + 1,800 + 4,125 = USD 10,825, about USD 309 per studio over three years, or USD 103 per studio per year. He sets the cutover for a Tuesday in late May, outside any weather watch, after six test bookings on July dates.

FAQ

When is the best time to go live in Nassau?

May or early June, after the mid-December to mid-April high season and before the hurricane peak. Keep at least 2 weeks of margin before any busy period.

How many test bookings should we run?

At least 5 to 6, on real dates and different room types. Each one should check the total price, taxes, fees and the confirmation email.

Will the cutover take the site offline?

With a TTL lowered to 300 seconds 48 hours ahead, propagation usually completes in under an hour. Email is not affected if MX records stay identical.

Should we change booking engines during the redesign?

No, it is kept and re-embedded, which is done on quote in 3 to 5 working days. Switching engines is a separate project with its own contracts.

What does a 5-page site cost in Nassau?

USD 6,000 to 12,000 with a local agency, as a 2026 ballpark, and USD 2,900 on the Starter tier. For a hotel with a restaurant, 5 pages are rarely enough.

Let's scope your project. Tell us your booking engine, your email host and your target cutover window, and we will price a redesign from USD 4,900 to 8,900 in 3 to 4 weeks. See the international offer or request a free quote: detailed reply within 48 hours.
