The verdict in three sentences
In Cork, a website redesign for an architecture firm costs around €7,000 to €22,000 with a local agency in 2026, and €2,700 to €8,200 on Kolonell's fixed grid. For a workplace and commercial fit-out practice the real question is governance: a portfolio left untouched for 18 months loses credibility with corporate property teams. Decide from day one who adds projects, who approves client permissions and which simple template every new project follows.
Does your site really need a redesign?
Cork combines residential work, offices, workplaces for pharma and tech companies and city centre regeneration. Clients check your site before the first call. Score each signal from 0 to 2; above 6 out of 10, a redesign is justified.
| Signal | 0 points | 1 point | 2 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last project added | Under 3 months | 3 to 12 months | Over 12 months |
| Mobile load time of a project page | Under 2.5 s | 2.5 to 4 s | Over 4 s |
| People who can publish in-house | 2 or more | 1 | None, you need the old supplier |
| Client permissions documented | For every project | For some | Unknown |
| Pages by sector (office, retail, residential) | Yes | Partial | No |
What budget should you plan over 3 years, not just at launch?
2026 ballpark from typical agency quotes and public rate pages of Irish agencies. Maintenance amounts are market assumptions, not Kolonell prices.
| Option | Redesign | Maintenance over 3 years (market assumption) | Indicative 3-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cork freelancer | €2,500 to €7,000 | €1,800 to €3,600 | €4,300 to €10,600 |
| Local Cork agency | €7,000 to €22,000 | €3,600 to €7,200 | €10,600 to €29,200 |
| Dublin agency | €15,000 to €35,000 | €5,400 to €10,800 | €20,400 to €45,800 |
| Kolonell Starter | €2,700 | 3 months included, then on quote | €2,700 + maintenance on quote |
| Kolonell Growth | €4,500 | 3 months included, then on quote | €4,500 + maintenance on quote |
| Kolonell Premium | €8,200 | 3 months included, then on quote | €8,200 + maintenance on quote |
Every Kolonell tier includes a project manager reachable in your time zone, native English or French copywriting, delivery in 3 to 4 weeks once content is ready and 3 months of support. See the international offer.
Who does what once the site is live?
This is the most expensive thing redesigns forget. A fit-out practice often completes 10 to 20 projects a year but publishes only 2 or 3 because there is no process. A simple split:
| Task | Owner | Frequency | Estimated time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Choose projects to publish | Director or project lead | Quarterly | 1 h |
| Obtain the client's written consent | Project lead | At handover | 30 min |
| Collect photo credits | Office manager | At handover | 15 min |
| Fill in the project template | Junior architect or designer | Per project | 1 h 30 |
| Review titles and claims | Director | Per project | 20 min |
| Check links and forms | Office manager or supplier | Monthly | 30 min |
The project template has six fields: sector, type of space, general location (never the address of a private home), scope, three to eight photos, credits. It stops every page being reinvented.
Which risks matter, and how do you control them?
- Search rankings. Full URL inventory, a 301 redirect map and Search Console error monitoring for 6 weeks after launch.
- Portfolio migration. Images are converted to WebP or AVIF, with responsive sizes and lazy loading. A project without client consent is not migrated.
- The title architect. In Ireland the title is protected under the Building Control Act 2007 and the RIAI keeps the register. Use it only for registered people. Awards, press or sustainability certifications appear only if the firm supplies them.
- Planning. Applications to local authorities and appeals to An Bord Pleanála (or its successor body) are described generally, never as advice.
- Personal data. GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply, overseen by the Data Protection Commission. The form collects the minimum: name, contact, project type, area, rough budget. Drawings go through a separate secure channel, on quote.
- Accessibility. The European Accessibility Act raises expectations; targeting WCAG 2.2 AA is prudent. This is not legal advice.
- Integrations. Project extranet, BIM viewer, client portal, tender document room and CRM stay on quote, linked or embedded, never rebuilt.
How long from kick-off to go-live?
Allow 3 to 4 weeks with Kolonell once content is ready: inventory and structure in week one, design and build in the next two, testing, compliance review and redirects in the last. Local agencies commonly take 8 to 16 weeks. Avoid switching sites during a major tender submission.
Ask your provider: who enters the 301s? Can staff publish without a developer? How many user accounts? Who owns the domain and the logins?

When is a Cork agency the better choice?
If your practice wants in-person brand workshops with several directors, video shoots on Cork sites, or deep integration with your project management system, a local agency is justified. If you need a fast, clear site that is easy to keep current, the fixed grid is enough. Your case can be priced through a free quote.
Mini case study
*Illustrative example.* Quaybridge Studio, a Cork practice focused on workplace and commercial fit-out, has 14 staff including 5 RIAI-registered architects. Its old site has not been updated for two years.
- Kolonell Growth: €4,500, with a project template and pages by sector.
- Local photographer, third-party cost: €1,800 for six projects.
- In-house time per published project: 1 h + 0.5 h + 0.25 h + 1.5 h + 0.33 h, about 3.6 h.
- For 12 projects a year: 12 x 3.6 = about 43 internal hours.
- Launch budget: €4,500 + €1,800 = €6,300, Kolonell maintenance after the 3 included months on quote.
FAQ
How much does an architecture firm website redesign cost in Cork?
About €7,000 to €22,000 with a local agency in 2026, and €2,500 to €7,000 with a freelancer. With Kolonell, €2,700, €4,500 or €8,200 depending on the tier.
Who should publish new projects?
Ideally two trained people in-house, with a director reviewing. With a template, a project page takes about 1 h 30 to enter.
Do we need client consent to show corporate offices?
Yes, always in writing, since many companies restrict images of their premises. Without consent the project stays offline, even if it was on the old site.
How long should we monitor rankings after launch?
At least 6 weeks in Search Console, with a weekly check of 404 errors. Every well-ranked project page needs a 301 redirect.
Is the project extranet included?
No, it stays on quote and is linked to the site. The €2,700 to €8,200 tiers cover the public website.
