The verdict in three sentences
For a supplier selling to large accounts, security, ESG and compliance questionnaires have become a hidden cost: 30 to 60 a year, 6 to 12 hours each, tying up the CISO, the CFO and the quality team. An AI assistant built on a validated knowledge base costs 120,000 to 280,000 MAD excluding tax (about EUR 11,000 to 26,000) and cuts response time by 60 to 75%, for API costs of EUR 50 to 300 a month. The non-negotiable conditions are human review before every submission and hosting compatible with Morocco's Law 09-08 and CNDP authorisations, or with GDPR for a SaaS or industrial supplier in Europe.
Why these questionnaires are so expensive
Banks, the OCP group, telecom operators and subsidiaries of European groups now require written evidence from suppliers: security policy, business continuity plan, access management, carbon footprint, anti-bribery policy, personal data handling. The same 200 questions come back in different wording, in Excel files, procurement portals or tender annexes. Without a central memory, each answer is written from scratch, with a risk of inconsistency between customers.
| Questionnaire type | Time without a tool | Time with AI assistant | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| IT security, 150 to 300 questions | 10 to 12 h | 3 to 4 h | 65 to 70% |
| ESG, supplier rating platform style | 8 to 10 h | 2.5 to 3.5 h | 65 to 70% |
| Anti-bribery and supplier due diligence | 6 to 8 h | 1.5 to 2.5 h | 70 to 75% |
| Data protection, Law 09-08 and GDPR | 6 to 9 h | 2 to 3 h | 65 to 67% |
| Technical section of a tender | 10 to 12 h | 4 to 5 h | 58 to 60% |
The smallest gain is on tenders, since part of the answer remains project-specific. Highly repetitive compliance questionnaires are the best candidates for automation.
What a 120,000 to 280,000 MAD project includes
The assistant never answers from general knowledge. It searches your validated base, drafts an answer citing the source document and clearly flags questions with no known answer.
| Component | 2026 range (MAD excl. tax) | Lead time |
|---|---|---|
| Scoping and collection of 150 to 300 reference answers | 15,000 to 35,000 | 2 weeks |
| Structured, versioned knowledge base (policies, certificates, evidence) | 25,000 to 55,000 | 2 to 3 weeks |
| AI drafting assistant with source citations | 35,000 to 80,000 | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Import of Excel, Word, PDF questionnaires and export to portals | 15,000 to 40,000 | 2 weeks |
| Human review workflow: CISO, CFO, ESG lead | 15,000 to 35,000 | 2 weeks |
| Hosting compliant with Law 09-08, access logging | 10,000 to 20,000 | 1 week |
| Team training and dashboard | 5,000 to 15,000 | 1 week |
| Total project | 120,000 to 280,000 (EUR 11,000 to 26,000) | 8 to 12 weeks |
Recurring costs cover the language model API, EUR 50 to 300 a month (about 550 to 3,300 MAD) depending on volume, and maintenance at 2,000 to 5,000 MAD a month. A European supplier commissioning the same scope locally should expect roughly EUR 25,000 to 60,000.

Mini case study
Salma is head of quality and compliance at a 120-person IT services firm in Rabat that supplies two banks and a telecom operator. She handles 55 questionnaires a year, averaging 10 hours, involving staff with a loaded cost of 450 MAD an hour: 550 hours, or 247,500 MAD a year.
With the assistant, time drops by 70%: 385 hours saved, worth 173,250 MAD. The chosen project costs 180,000 MAD, plus 18,000 MAD of API and 24,000 MAD of maintenance a year. Net annual gain: 131,250 MAD, payback in about 16 months, before counting files that now go out in 3 days instead of 2 weeks.
FAQ
Can answers be sent without review? No, and we strongly advise against it: a wrong answer on a security questionnaire can create contractual liability. The workflow requires sign-off by the owner of each topic, which takes 10 to 20 minutes per questionnaire on average.
What does Law 09-08 say about using an AI API? If personal data is processed, the processing must be declared to the CNDP and any transfer outside Morocco requires authorisation. In practice the base mostly holds company documents, and we configure the API with no retention and no reuse of data for training. In Europe, the same setup is documented under GDPR.
Can the AI invent a certification we do not hold? The risk is controlled: the assistant answers only from the validated base and cites its source, otherwise it marks the question as to be completed. In our tests, more than 90% of drafts are accepted with minor edits.
How many questionnaires make the investment worthwhile? The threshold is around 20 to 25 questionnaires a year of more than 6 hours each. Below that, a shared answer library is often enough.
Does it handle French, English and Arabic? Yes, the assistant answers in the questionnaire's language from a base written in French or English. Closer review is advised for Arabic, which usually accounts for less than 10% of requests.
